During our trip in Norway, I’ve chosen to stay at SmartHotel Oslo, it is an affordable budget hotel which is relatively close to Nationaltheatret Train Station.
The hotel lobby was cozy, and warm from the outside cold wind. The hotel lobby was nicely arranged and clean, there’s a waiting area upon walking in the hotel. Beside the waiting area was the hotel desk and in the far end was the dining area for breakfast buffet.
Check in was done quickly and smoothly, and the hotel staffs are friendly and cheerful. During check-in, they recommended some places of interest around the hotel for us to consider visiting during our stay.
Proceeded up to our room, which is on the fifth floor. Even for a budget hotel, the need of tapping your hotel room card to select the floors can be seen here, which I find it good, as it makes me feel a little safer staying here.
The room was really small, though it’s expected before arriving, but still, it’s the smallest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in, this is the only bad thing about the room. The rest aren’t, as it was somehow cozy and things were neat, tidy and clean. The room basically has all amenities in it, except for the lag of kettle which will be very useful in such cold weather, but fret not, you will be able to top up hot water at the hotel lobby. The hotel also provides free wifi to all of its guests.
One major plus point for this hotel is that it is really very convenient, to place of interests like The Royal Palace and it’s close to Nationaltheatret Train Station, there ave several eateries around the hotel too. What’s more is that it will only take you approximately 35 minutes to get to the hotel from Oslo Gardermoen Airport.
The hotel comprises with 5 different categories: Smart Single & Smart Double both with the room size of 8m². The Smart Superior and Smart HC is about 12-15m², if you are here for longer staying period, you could try their Smart longstay room which is about 40m².
What’s special about this hotel is that if you are checking out on a Sunday, the hotel allow you to check out at 3pm for free!
This isn’t the best hotel you can find in Oslo, but for a short stay and if you are in budget. SmartHotel Oslo is a choice! I only paid S$312 for 3 nights. Oh, and if you book directly from the hotel, free daily buffet breakfast is included too!
