Flight Review: Qantas Economy (SIN – PER)

It’s June 2018, and it’s also my first overseas holiday trip of the year! Thanks to the Hari Raya Puasa long weekend, decided to travel to Perth for a short 4D3N vacation with my parents & girlfriend!

Even though Australia has been always on my must-visit list, but traveling there always got push back. And finally, got to travel to the Aussie!

Perth is located in the western part of Australia and can be easily reached by several airlines via direct or transfer. I’ve decided to fly with Aussie’s national airline – Qantas. It’s my first time flying with them, and was kinda excited!

Qantas flies Airbus A380 to larger Aussie cities like Sydney, Melbourne. However, Qantas flies daily with its Boeing 737 for the SIN-PER route.

FLIGHT DETAILS

QF 78 | Boeing 737-800

Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1 – Perth Airport Terminal 3

Flight Time: 5 hours 10 minutes

Departure Time: 11:45pm, Arrival Time: 5:00am

Checking in and depositing of baggage was easy & smooth in Changi Airport, thanks to its FAST Self-Check-In kiosks.

This Boeing 737-800 flight has 2 different seating class – Economy & Business. There are 12 business class seats with the seating configuration of 2-2. The remaining 162 seats are for Economy with the seating configuration of 3-3. And yes, it isn’t a huge aircraft as compared to Airbus A380.

Let’s go in details on the seats. For economy class, Qantas equipped it with Marc Newson seat with 30-inch seat pitch, together with a 9-inch in-flight entertainment touchscreen display and USB port. As for business class, it comes with a 37-inch seat pitch, and up to 22-inch width between arms. It comes with a 10.6-inch in-arm in-flight entertainment touchscreen, extendable leg rest with fold-out footrest and USB port.

The flight was alright in the beginning, but I have to minus points off Qantas for their in-flight meal, which was quite bad… They gave garlic bread with butter inside and was quite hard to bite on. The warm food selection was quite limited in quantity too, as I was seated at the back of the plane, the option I have left was braised beef with mushroom & vegetables. Other than my complaint on their food, overall was alright for my flight to Perth, with Qantas.
